The Bugs and the Bees: Why the World Needs Insects

Abegg earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and is pursuing a doctorate in entomology at Rutgers. She has dedicated her life to protecting pollinators and works with New Jersey’s blueberry farmers and Rutgers scientists to reduce pesticide use and promote integrated pest management. She studies the cause of honey bee hive declines during blueberry pollination and the practices that threaten honey bee colonies.
