The Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research received $10 million from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Rutgers University to support the New Jersey Population Health Cohort Study. It is the largest study to date to evaluate what influences health and well-being in New Jersey. The state is one of the nation’s most diverse, and 25 percent of its residents are immigrants. It is also one of the wealthiest, with significant health disparities among its population. The study will produce new data and solutions to help improve health equity in the state. The study is enrolling 10,000 participants and aims to reflect the state’s diversity by emphasizing minority and low-income communities, multigenerational families, and immigrant groups. The institute is partnering with community organizations to support participation in the research.
