A Royal Soap Opera

The Broadway production of Diana: A New Musical, with book and lyrics by alumnus Joe DiPietro, was shuttered just days before premiering in March 2020 because of the pandemic. Fortunately, the original Broadway cast will delight a larger audience in the fall, albeit remotely, when the production is scheduled to be released on Netflix after being filmed in an empty Longacre Theatre in New York City. Diana is set to return to Broadway in December. DiPietro RC’84, a 2014 inductee of the Rutgers Hall of Distinguished Alumni, was reunited on Diana with David Bryan, who wrote the music and with whom he shared a Tony Award in 2010 for their collaboration on the musical Memphis.
