Foundation Names New Leader
Kimberly Hopely is the new executive vice president for development and alumni engagement and president of Rutgers University Foundation. She started at Rutgers in October after six years as senior vice president and chief development officer at Arizona State University, where she led a campaign that raised $2.35 billion and helped triple annual fundraising.
In her role at Rutgers, Hopely will lead and manage the university’s fundraising and alumni engagement programs, aligning the foundation’s aims with strategic universitywide priorities. She will also continue the foundation’s efforts to nurture relationships with Rutgers’ 550,000 diverse alumni around the world.
“I am excited to join Rutgers at this pivotal time under president Jonathan Holloway’s leadership,” Hopely said. She noted the importance of alumni engagement in providing value to both alumni and Rutgers. “I look forward to working with our incredible network of alumni, hearing their Rutgers stories, and helping to connect them with their alma mater in a meaningful way.”
“Kimberly Hopely brings a wealth of experience in organizational leadership and fundraising strategy to Rutgers at a key moment, as we are in the early stages of our next comprehensive fundraising campaign,” said Holloway. “I am confident that in Kimberly we have made a brilliant choice for taking the foundation to even greater levels of success in supporting our mission.”
Before leading Arizona State’s fundraising efforts, Hopely was senior director of operations and development at Banner Health Foundation in Phoenix, where she led the fundraising strategy for Banner MD Anderson, Banner Children’s, and Banner University Medicine.
