The Rutgers University Policy Library has been updated to provide faculty, staff, students and administrators quick and easy access to more than 300 policies. The Board of Governors approved the new policy library at its Oct. 5 meeting.

The new, more modernized and intuitive library website can be accessed at the same URL – policies.rutgers.edu. The library, which is managed by University Ethics and Compliance, will continue to be the official source for university policies that govern academic, administrative, financial, operational, and business affairs.

The primary functions of the library are to enhance the university mission and strategic goals; reduce institutional risks and enhance internal controls; establish delegation of authority and responsibility; promote compliance with federal, state and other applicable laws and regulations; and promote operational alignment, consistency and efficiency.

The revised website will display all policies in HTML format to make them easier to access and read, particularly for those who use screen readers. The policies can also be downloaded as PDF files. An improved search function makes it easier to find policies using keywords, and appendices, exhibits and annexes will now be attachments, making them more visible and accessible.

The updated library will improve policy development and management by simplifying policy creation and revision. It will also foster collaboration, increase transparency and maintain the historical archives of hundreds of policies.

The embedded links in the previous PDF versions of university policies will automatically be rerouted to the new policy library homepage. Links from university websites posted as PDFs will also be automatically rerouted to the policy library homepage. Those in charge of managing a university website who need a link to a specific policy will have to access that policy’s page in the new policy library to make an update. You can continue to view and navigate policies by section and policy number.

Those with questions about the new policy library can reach out to policy@uec.rutgers.edu.
