Rutgers–Camden has partnered with PhillyCarShare, an extension of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, to provide a membership-based, automated car rental option that offers a sustainable, efficient and cost-effective transportation alternative.
Registered members have access to a Toyota Prius and Ford Focus Hatchback parked on campus in Lot 12 at North Third and Penn streets.
“We are working with PhillyCarShare to expand transportation options for our students and faculty,” says Tom DiValerio, dean of students at Rutgers–Camden. “This initiative provides our students with the convenience to be mobile regardless if they have a vehicle on campus or not.”
Rutgers–Camden students age 19 and older are eligible for membership in PhillyCarShare, which offers around-the-clock access to hourly, daily, and overnight rentals. It allows members to maintain the benefits of a personal car while only paying for the vehicle when it is being used.
Campus car-sharing programs are popular with students because they provide a solution to car rental age restrictions, as well as financial concerns associated with having a car on campus.
Members reserve a vehicle online, then access the vehicle using a key fob and return it to the same location. Fuel and basic vehicle physical damage and state required liability protection are included in all rate plans.
Located near the Camden Waterfront district, Rutgers–Camden sits just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia’s historic district and Penn’s Landing.
Discounted personal memberships are available for all students, faculty and staff and can be redeemed by clicking here.
