BACKGROUND: Doris Kearns Goodwin is the author of Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln (to be a feature film developed by Steven Spielberg, starring Liam Neeson), Lyndon Johnson and the American Dream, The Fitzgeralds and the Kennedys, No Ordinary Time: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt: The American Home Front During World War II and Wait Till Next Year: A Memoir.

Goodwin has been a politics and baseball reporter for more than two decades. She is a commentator for NBC and a consultant and commentator for PBS.

Consistent with the Eagleton Institutes history of fostering thoughtful discussion about politics and leadership, the 50th Anniversary Lecture Series features speakers addressing the challenges facing the United States in light of increasing polarization and partisan divisions.
