NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Hundreds of needy people who rely on Fish Inc. in Central New Jersey will benefit from Rutgers Against Hunger’s (RAH) food collections during the month of March.

In December, Fish Inc. asked RAH to help stock the shelves of its emergency food pantry serving needy families and individuals in northern Middlesex County. Fish Inc. is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that helps the poor, elderly,

homeless and those who “fall between cracks” by providing food, clothing and other necessities. The organization serves Dunellen, Middlesex, Piscataway, South Plainfield, Edison, and Highland Park and nearby communities in Union and Somerset counties.

RAH is collecting nonperishable donations in the RAH-labeled bins located across the university’s campuses in New Brunswick, Camden, and Newark. Established by Rutgers President Richard L. McCormick in November 2008, RAH is a universitywide effort to feed  the hungry and increase awareness of hunger and food insecurity. Since it was established, RAH has collected 57,000 pounds of food and raised $105,000 for food banks, emergency pantries and soup kitchens.
