Rutgers' Mini-MBA Certificate Program Now in Bergen County;Tenafly site offers convenience for area business professionals

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. Rutgers popular Mini-MBA: Business Essentials certificate program will be offered for the first time in Bergen County starting in March to meet the growing demand for convenient, accessible education enhancement opportunities for business professionals in that area.

Registrations are now being accepted for the 12-week session, which will meet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on consecutive Mondays, March 3 through May 19, at the Clinton Inn, 145 Dean Drive, Tenafly. The $2,995 fee includes tuition and all materials. Class size is limited to 25 participants.

Presented by Rutgers Center for Management Development (CMD) in conjunction with Rutgers Business School and the School of Management and Labor Relations, the mini-MBA is an innovative certificate program that has helped to create growth opportunities for a wide range of professionals, managers and executives.

The curriculum seeks to promote a deeper understanding of business and a better appreciation of how various functional areas of organizations relate to one another in executing strategy. It features focused learning experiences around 12 vital MBA subject areas, including business strategy, finance, marketing, law, ethics and organizational change. The program is delivered in a hands-on, case-based format designed for practitioners.

Weve developed the program for business professionals who want to enhance their business acumen and who may also be interested in previewing Rutgers master in business administration programs, said Abe Weiss, director of CMD. He noted that graduates have praised the Mini-MBAs relevance and excellence in instruction.

Mini-MBA classes are taught by leading professors from Rutgers Business Schools executive MBA and graduate MBA programs. They include Ben Sopranzetti, who recently was named a favorite undergraduate business school professor by BusinessWeek magazine.

The Tenafly site is the newest location for the program. It also has been offered at sites in Morristown, Jersey City, Freehold and Newark as well as on the Rutgers campus in Piscataway.

Weiss said the northern New Jersey market was found to be underserved, based on inquiries CMD had received over the years from people who had to travel to other locations.

"Weve decided to make a commitment to the Bergen County area in order to bring training to working professionals there, Weiss said.
