Description:
• 12,000-square-foot, two-story, multi-use building containing exhibition space, meeting/banquet facilities and office space.
• Exhibition spaces include interactive multi-media displays on the university’s history, academics, campuses and student life.
• A 42-foot-long by 8-foot-high “Scarlet Wall” visible from the street offers a photographic and chronological introduction to the university.
Projected Usage:
• Three meeting rooms are available for student introductory programs, general university meetings and banquet functions. Great room accommodates 380 for meetings or 250 for banquets. Outdoor patio can accommodate 200.
• More than 42,000 prospective students and family members visited Rutgers last year, an increase of 179% over 2003.
• When fully operational, the building is expected to host upwards of 170,000 visitors annually for admissions tours, banquets, meetings and other events.
Materials:
• Exterior: Composite aluminum panels, calcium-silicate “stone” cladding, box-rib metal panels, polished-face CMU block and low-E ceramic-frit coated glazing. Exterior vertical sunscreen is perforated stainless steel with galvanized steel frame.
• Sustainable design features: Exterior sun-screening devices, increased energy efficiency, low water use plumbing, low VOC-emitting materials, recycled-content products and minimal interior finishes.

Cost: $7.54 million ($5 million from university; the balance to be raised from donations)

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30-5 p.m. and select weekend dates. Also open for two hours prior to kickoff on football game days.
