Because Politics Matters: Women and Public Leadership. Womens leadership will be in the spotlight when Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton visits Rutgers to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Eagleton Institute of Politics and the 35th anniversary of Eagletons Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP).

BACKGROUND: Originally scheduled to speak at Rutgers Monday, April 16, Sen. Clinton was forced to postpone her visit due to the Noreaster.

Sen. Clintons talk is the latest in Eagletons 50th anniversary lecture series, Because Politics Matters. Consistent with the institutes history of fostering thoughtful discussion of timely topics, speakers have addressed challenges facing our democracy, emphasizing opportunities for expanding political participation and strengthening civic engagement

and how they can be improved. Eagleton programs contribute to more effective, ethical governance; broader representation; and a better informed and actively engaged citizenry.
