Statement from the Vice President for Student Affairs on Change in Move-in Date and Cancellation of New Student Convocation Due to Hurricane Irene
Dear Rutgers New Brunswick/Piscataway Students,
Hurricane Irene is expected to strike New Jersey sometime Sunday, August 28, bringing the potential for severe weather and hazardous travel conditions. In the interest of safety, Rutgers University is changing the move-in date for residence halls on the New Brunswick/Piscataway Campus to Saturday, August 27.
In addition, we are canceling the New Student Convocation, which was scheduled for Sunday at 6 p.m.
We ask that all new students try to arrange their schedules to move into their residence halls on Saturday, August 27, between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. If you are unable to move in Saturday, please do so on Monday, August 29, after the storm has passed and it is safe to travel.
The following websites have been established to provide additional information:
- Fall orientation schedule
- Residence hall move-in
- Rutgers University Public Safety has information about move-in day parking and traffic
Should you have any questions not addressed through the websites, please contact RUinfo at 732-445-4636.
We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause you and your family, but given the likelihood of severe weather on Sunday, your safety must be our primary concern.
