I cannot access the Student Immunization Portal. What should I do?
-
Your Net ID must be activated in order to access the Rutgers Student Immunization Portal. Please visit NetID Management | Rutgers University Once activated, you may need to wait 24-48 hours before you have access.
Which browser can I use?

Edge, Firefox and Chrome are the recommended browsers.
I uploaded my documents on the portal. How long will it take to verify? Will you notify me after my record has been reviewed?

Verification times vary. Immediately before the semester starts, processing time increases. You will be notified once your record has been reviewed. You can also review your status by logging into the portal and selecting Immunizations.
What does my immunization compliance status mean?
-
Compliant, Verified: You have satisfied all currently required immunizations and the university has verified your records. No further action is required at this time.

Compliant, Not Verified: You have supplied dates and documentation of your immunization records. While the information you entered fulfills the current requirements, your documents must be verified by the university. Please be patient while you await verification. A secure message will be sent once your record has been reviewed.

Not Compliant: You have not supplied enough information to fulfill your immunization requirements. You may need to upload additional documentation or enter the dates of your immunizations. You can print your record to see what requirements are still missing.

No Data: You have not supplied any documentation or dates regarding your immunization requirements.
Please make sure you have uploaded documentation and have entered the dates of the immunizations you have received. You can also review your status by logging into the portal and selecting Immunizations. Click on the PRINT icon to view your immunization record. Any missing requirements will be listed at the end of the printout.

Where do I send my completed immunization packet signed by my healthcare provider?

You must upload your immunization forms using the immunization portal link provided on your immunization packet.
How do I know which immunizations I need to submit?
-
Please select the option to PRINT your immunization record and determine if any vaccinations have already been received. You only need to submit the immunizations that are missing.

Your program’s requirements are listed on the first page of your packet. To find your packet, select your program from the left tab or click here for a comprehensive list all Rutgers programs.
What do I need to complete if I am a former Rutgers student or a student on another campus?

Please complete the Mandatory Health Questionnaire on the portal and print your immunization record. If your record is incomplete, please follow the instructions on the main page to submit your missing immunization records for review.
I have immunization records from another University. Can I use it as supporting documentation for my record?

Yes, if it is an official record and has been verified by your university, we will accept the documents as supporting documentation.
I am attending mostly online classes. Do I still need to submit immunization records?
-
Yes, unless you are enrolled in an online only degree granting program, you are required to submit immunization records. If you are unsure if your program is considered an online only degree granting program, please contact your program administrator.
How do I get a copy of my immunization record?

Log into the student immunization portal, click on the immunization tab, and print your immunization records.
What happens if I have not had all my immunizations?
-
Rutgers University requires that you have your pre-entrance immunizations completed as indicated. Holds may be placed on student accounts, you may be restricted from university housing, and/or your clinical rotations may be impacted.
Where can I get the immunizations that I am missing?

Please contact your healthcare provider, local pharmacies, or if on campus, your Student Health Office.
How do I correct a mistake I have made online entering my immunization dates?

You cannot delete previously entered data. Immunization staff will delete errors during the verification process and input correct information. To notify immunization staff of a mistake, you can send a secure message via the immunization portal.
I am receiving an error message while in the Immunization Portal, what should I do?

Please contact us - Include your full name and RUID or Net ID and explain the error you’re receiving.
Can my parent/guardian complete and sign the form?

No, New Jersey regulations require that a physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or school official sign the form.

Do I need the COVID-19 vaccine?
The university suspended the COVID-19 vaccination requirement on April 1, 2024. The CDC continues to recommend vaccination, especially for those who have underlying medical conditions.

I previously had chickenpox. Do I still need to get the vaccine?
-
If varicella (chickenpox) is a requirement for your program, you will need to submit varicella titers to show that you are immune.

When do I need to have the flu vaccine?
-
Clinical students must receive the influenza vaccine for each flu season. Each program has specific deadlines.

My Hepatitis B antibody titer came back negative (not immune). What should I do now? Will this hold up my enrollment, registration, or clinical rotation?
-
If you completed the Hepatitis B series in the past and are still not immune, you have two options:
-
Receive a booster shot and check the titer again in 4 weeks.
-
Repeat the complete vaccine series and check the titer again in 4 weeks.

In the meantime, you must submit a Hepatitis B Surface Antigen in addition to completing the above steps.All complete lab reports must be uploaded to the immunization portal.

As long as you keep to the vaccine and titer schedules and submit documentation, you will remain compliant throughout the process and your enrollment, registration, or rotations will not be affected.
What is the vaccine schedule for Hepatitis B?
There are several types of Hepatitis B vaccines available. The standard vaccine schedules are listed below.
Heplisav – 2 dose Hepatitis B vaccine

4 weeks apart
Engerix-B and Recombivax HB and Twinrix– 3 dose Hepatitis B vaccine

1 month between doses 1 and 2

5 months between doses 2 and 3
The CDC recommends a standard schedule for vaccines but allows healthcare providers to accept a shorter interval between doses. Please follow your healthcare provider's recommendation and if you have any questions about your compliance, send your campus immunization specialist a secure message in the immunization portal. Please upload your documentation each time you receive a vaccination.

I have completed 2 Hepatitis B vaccine series and I am still not immune. What do I do?

Call your campus student health office to discuss the next steps. Even though you don’t have to get additional doses, it’s possible that another vaccine type may help you become immune. If you are not immune to Hepatitis B and you have been exposed, you may need additional care to prevent transmission.
As a clinical student, do I need a quantitative or a qualitative Hepatitis B titer?

Am I required to get this vaccine?

Yes, the state of NJ requires all university/college students to have received two doses of MMR vaccine.
What if I can’t find my records?

You would need to provide an immune blood test for MMR or get revaccinated with 2 MMR vaccine doses.

There are two types of meningitis vaccines available in the US. Requirements for each are listed below:

Meningitis ACYW - (Menactra®, Menveo®, and MenQuadfi®)

Meningitis B - (Bexsero® and Trumenba®)
Do I need the meningitis ACYW vaccine?
-
Vaccination is only required for the following groups of students:
-
Students under the age of 19 years old1

First-year college or university students living on-campus regardless of age1
-
Student who is considered high risk for meningitis ACYW2**
-
11 dose after the age of 16 or within 5 years of the original vaccine
2A full series is required** Medical Conditions or situations that are considered high risk for meningitis include complement component deficiency or receipt of medication known as a complement inhibitor, no spleen or problem with spleen – including sickle cell disease, HIV Infection, travel to an area where the disease is common, work in a laboratory with meningococcal bacteria (Neisseria meningitis).
Do I need the Meningitis B vaccine?

Vaccination is only required for students who are part of the following high-risk groups:

I am an incoming clinical student and had one PPD placed last year. Do I still need a two-step PPD?
-
Clinical students must have a 2-step PPD or FDA-approved TB blood test prior to matriculation within 6 months of their enrollment date. Students with a history of serial annual PPDs (3 or more) may submit that documentation for review. These will be approved on a case-by-case basis.
I had the BCG vaccine; do I still need a PPD?
-
You will still need to be screened for tuberculosis. A blood test such as QuantiFERON Gold or T-spot is recommended because it is less likely to be positive after a BCG. PPDs will also be accepted if negative.
I had a positive PPD. What should I do?
-
Specific situations may vary. In general, you will need to submit documentation of the positive PPD, a normal chest x-ray or a negative Tuberculosis blood test. If the chest x-ray is abnormal or the blood test shows possible infection, you will need to be evaluated by your physician for Tuberculosis. Submit all documentation (e.g., PPD reading, chest x-ray report, blood tests, treatment dates) on the portal.
I had a positive PPD in the past but have no documentation, what should I do?

We need documentation from your healthcare provider that you had a positive PPD, along with a chest x-ray report. Alternatively, you may submit a Tuberculosis blood test. If that test is positive, you will need a chest x-ray.

Can I submit an exemption request for the required vaccines?
-
Yes, you can submit an exemption request through the Student Immunization Portal. Exemption requests are approved on a case-by-case basis.

Students in online only degree granting programs do not need to submit immunization requirements.
-
Third party clinical, fieldwork, or experiential learning sites may still require that students be fully vaccinated to participate in clinical placements or experiential learning activities at those sites. If you have questions, please contact your specific program.
